Teams working with digital files routinely need the same file in multiple formats: a CAD drawing exported as an image, an Office document converted to PDF, a graphic resized for the web. Producing these variants meant leaving the platform, running manual commands, or relying on external tools. The new Renditions premium module for AtroCore eliminates all of that, handling file conversion inside the system so files stored in one format become instantly available in others more suitable for sharing, embedding, or preview.
What Renditions does
Renditions generates converted versions of any file directly inside AtroCore, using professional-grade CLI tools already on the server: ImageMagick, Inkscape, Ghostscript, LibreOffice, GIMP, and Dia. You have full control over which conversions are available in your system. With Renditions, you can:
- Convert files into other formats without leaving the platform
- Keep converted versions organized and linked to their source files automatically
- Avoid manual, repetitive conversion work by triggering it in a few clicks
- Ensure converted files are always up to date when the original changes
- Convert a single file or a large batch in the same number of steps
- Access converted files via a direct URL without going through the interface
The module is built around Transformations, named, reusable conversion recipes that define how a file should be processed: the command to run, the accepted file types, and any parameters adjustable at runtime, such as output format, dimensions, or compression quality. An ImageMagick transformation comes pre-configured out of the box.
How it works in practice
Select a conversion type, set any output preferences, and confirm. A background job handles everything, without waiting time, or manual steps. Converting a single file or a large batch takes the same number of clicks.
The converted file appears in a dedicated Renditions panel on the file record, linked to its source, and is accessible via a direct URL without going through the interface. If the original is re-uploaded, all renditions regenerate automatically. If it is deleted, its renditions go with it, so that no outdated or orphaned versions left behind.
For administrators, Transformations use Twig templates, enabling sophisticated conditional pipelines and runtime parameters so one transformation can cover many use cases without separate configurations for every variation.
